It's been another turbulent year for the governments of both Asheville and Buncombe County.
The county, still recovering from the fraud convictions of three former managers, has been rocked by the indictment of yet another official, Commissioner Ellen Frost, on charges of fraud and misuse of county funds. Frost has pleaded not guilty.
Meantime, Asheville is still struggling with the issues of state-mandated district elections, police-community relations and how best to balance downtown development with the needs of the local population.
At Leadership Asheville Forum's August 28th Critical Issues event, Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer and Buncombe County Commission Chair Brownie Newman are expected to address those and other challenges. We hope you can join us.
