Renovated and expanded at a cost of $24 million, the Asheville Art Museum will reopen this spring at 2 South Pack Square, with over 68,000 square feet of space. The sleek structure replaces the 1980s-era building, which previously housed the art museum, The Health Adventure, the Colburn Earth Science Museum and the entrance lobby for Diana Wortham Theatre.
For the first time ever, the museum will have tall ceilings and lighting, plus modern environmental and security systems that will allow it to host major traveling exhibitions that have previously bypassed Asheville for larger cities like Atlanta, Charlotte and Greenville.
At LAF’s April 24th event, Executive Director Pam Myers will give us a preview of this ambitious and exciting new addition to Asheville’s cultural scene.
